SPRING COLOR AT HIGH POINT MARKET
Spring is here, well I should say summer is around the corner with 80 degree temperatures in New Orleans. Spring brings with it such excitement in interior design. It brings a newness, a freshness, a breath of fresh air and as you all know, spring is color!!! I'm so excited as I prepare to leave for the largest international furniture market -- this week in High Point, NC. I'm headed there with my sister and will be dining with a cousin and meeting some fellow designers as well!! Can't wait to take in the scenery that nature has to offer and the scenery that the vendors have created for us too! Visually it will be stimulating, exciting, refreshing and probably overwhelming as usual!!!
I have had a lot of focus on securing antiques for clients so I'm headed to NC to curate antiques and meet new antique dealers across the country. Having many reliable and verified antique sources can offer a unique service to my clients in always being able to locate what they envision for their home. Our focus is on interior design in New Orleans using antiques and adding touches of new pieces. I love viewing antiques, hunting for them, negotiating and bringing in just that perfect piece for my clients. At market the eye candy of antiques is so beyond description that it's hard to put into words my awe at the age and the beauty of so many treasured pieces!
Now on to color!!! I've been saying let's add some spring color to my new clients and it seems that the new finds at High Point will coincide with my spring design moto -- COLOR HAS SPRUNG!
With all of my trade sources and furniture manufacturers as well as the home decor and accessory companies have all jumped on board with the COLOR HAS SPRUNG for spring. Below is a sample selection from One King's Lane, a popular online furniture source for many DIY'ers.

The beauty of a market like High Point is that I can curate every single item for my client's home. The ideas are overflowing and I can ensure that each of my client's spaces reflect their personality and taste. The options are endless and it's so great seeing all the new products, trends and colors!
A preview of some NOT SO COLOR INTERIOR DESIGN FINDS are shown below. Another benefit of market is seeing the new trends and designs but I also enjoy and my clients benefit from me finding new sources for traditional pieces. My specialty is designing a home using antiques but marrying them with newly curated pieces. Clients love the use of new pieces that blend well with their treasured heirlooms to create a UNIQUE and One-of-a-Kind Statement Home. One thing I strive for in every design is the uniqueness that represents my client's personality, lifestyle and preferences. I feel like clients get tired of spending money on their designer only to walk into to a party and find someone else's home looking nearly just like theirs!!
Upholstery is so fun to curate and select for clients! The options are endless in chairs, sofas, settees and sectionals. Taylor King prides itself on years of providing high quality upholstered pieces with unique twists.
A trend that has come back around just like the 'low cut' jeans, the bell bottoms, and the boho style, the use of wallpaper is back en vogue! I personally cannot present a design concept without the use of at least one wall of a bold or metallic wall covering! Striving for the UNIQUE in all homes, all the time.
Last but certainly not least for those who know me is the vast array of lighting to view, gaze upon, adore and select from at High Point. If you've read my other blogs you know that I am really really big into the 'chandy'! To us the crowning glory, or "tiara" of every room is the chandelier! I find a place for them in every room and typically tend to 'over' size for an even more dramatic effect!
Please keep your eyes peeled for my next post --- When I get back from market I will show you some truly remarkable and unique finds. I'm excited !! I hope you are too!
